We moved into a 20 year old 4 Bed Detached house back in May 2017. For some strange reason we had totally blanked out the sound of the flooring whilst viewing. We had our dream house, but with a squeeky chipboard first floor. We replaced the carpets throughout when moving in, and so I used SPAX screws to screw every chipboard floor panel to the joist at 40cm spacing. I went through 3 boxes at £30 each. The noise didn’t go away. 2 Months passed, and we were tearing our hair out. The camels back was broke one evening – we started the hunt for a solution. We came across Squeaky Floor Solutions straight away on Google. The website matched everything we were experiencing. A squeaky floor is more than just a squeaky floor. You start tip toeing, it’s embarassing when guests are around, there was no way of moving on the first floor without someone knowing. The solution is priced correctly, it’s not as cheap as one would hope, but not as expensive to put you off. But by god, does it make a difference. Wes was amazing from the start. Called and discussed the solution and what it would do. Quote was generated professionally and with full explanations. We took the plunge and booked in. All stages were explained to us. The level of work is quite frightening, and daunting to raise the carpets (especially new). But care and attention was taken at all stages. Wes was extremely accomodating, and even helped us lay a bit of insulation between the floors whilst the floor was up. The results speak for themselves, as the first floor is now silent. We couldn’t quite believe the first night. The materials feel much more sturdy on the foot regardless, but I am pleased to report that the squeak and crack has disapeared all but one or two (and only when it’s been really cold weather and not been stood on for a while). We had an issue with the plasterboard ceiling on the ground floor cracking when someone walked around upstairs. This was seperate to the squeaky floor and Wes had a solution for it also. Again, the results are amazing. All but one or two cracks here and there, they have disapeared. An amazing solution, great professional service, have (and will continue to) recommend to everyone who has this problem. If you’re umming and arring, stop suffering and get it done. You will not regret it. The only problem is after a few months, you’ll get used to no squeaks and wonder what all the fuss was about – it’s at that time you replay the videos you took of the awful sound it used to make.
