Our house is 13 years old and over recent years the upstairs chipboard flooring in all rooms had become extremely creaky and was very annoying. At times when sat downstairs and someone was upstairs it seemed as though the ceiling would come though. The noise became so frustrating that I repeatedly searched on the Internet for a solution initially without any luck however recently I came across a blog by Wes and Steve which showed an example of how they had replaced noisy chipboard flooring with thick ply in a yoga studio totally eliminating the problem. I immediately emailed them and they came round a few days later and quoted to replace most of the upstairs flooring. The quote was very reasonable and a few weeks later they started work ripping up the old chipboard flooring and replacing it with new ply.
Yes it’s a noisy job and you have to be prepared for a bit of disruption (moving furniture) but its well worth it. In total it took roughly five days and the end result was amazing. The noise upstairs has been almost totally eradicated and it is now like walking on a solid floor and when new carpets went down it was even better. I can’t praise Wes and Steve enough for doing such a great job!
